Intentional, emotional, full of energy, and completely centered around the people who matter most.
We arrived early in the afternoon while the final pieces of the day were still coming together. Before everything began moving at full speed, there was time to slow things down and document Tanner on his own, followed by portraits with his groomsmen. Those quieter moments before a wedding day officially begins always have a different energy — the anticipation, the nerves, the excitement, and that realization that everything you’ve been planning is finally happening.
As the evening continued, the energy shifted into celebration. Lauren and Tanner entered their reception, shared their first dance, experienced parent dances and toasts, and finally had the chance to sit back and enjoy everything they had created with the people they loved.
Dinner turned into a table dash, a huge group photo, and an evening filled with genuine celebration before ending coverage with their cake cutting.
From the anticipation of the afternoon to the energy of the reception, Lauren and Tanner’s wedding was never just about creating beautiful photographs. It was about preserving what the day actually felt like — the people, the emotion, the movement, the chaos, the quiet, and everything in between.
Because years from now, I don’t just want my couples to remember how their wedding looked.
I want them to remember exactly how it felt.
There are photographs we plan for, but there are also reactions and emotions that can’t be recreated. Those are the moments I’m always watching for — the hug that lasts a little longer, the expression someone makes when they think nobody is looking, or the way a parent sees their child on their wedding day.
After family portraits, Lauren and Tanner shared a first touch before their ceremony. Without seeing one another, they were able to have a moment together, connect, and take in everything that was about to happen while still saving that first look for the aisle.
Then it was time.
Their ceremony brought everyone together before transitioning into family and bridal party portraits, followed by portraits of Lauren and Tanner as newlyweds. My goal during this part of the day is never to turn a wedding into a photoshoot. I want to give my couples enough direction to feel confident while still creating space for them to actually experience being together. The movement, the laughter, the quiet in-between moments — that’s where so much of the story lives.
